Technology

The off-the-shelf NMI effects delivery components are the same as those used in existing handheld TASER devices.  The T-RAD Modules can utilize any number of independent effects modules although the module shown consists of 3 modules.  Each module will accept any of the standard TASER cartridges issued for use with handheld devices

Benefits

Force protection, including personnel, assets, and facilities continues to be one of the major requirements of U.S. forces abroad and at home.  In the quest to secure facilities, in particular, the current state of the art includes surveillance, reconnaissance, and sensor data to detect and assess encroachment events into protected areas.  Once alerted, responding forces must physically deploy to the area in order to defend that area or to attempt to arrest intruders.  This leads, however, to inherent latency of the response which can give intruders time to accomplish objectives and evade responders.  Responding to a fluid situation where the intent and location of the opposition exposes our forces to risk.  For that reason, there is a need to provide a delay and arrest capability at key locations that can be employed instantly upon threat alert and assessment.

TASER Remote Area Denial (TRAD) provides that unique intermediate capability.  TRAD is the only force protection and area denial capability that allows for the delay AND arrest of targeted individuals.

The TASER X26 uses a replaceable cartridge containing compressed nitrogen to deploy two small probes that are attached to the TASER X26 by insulated conductive wires with a maximum length of 35 feet (10.6 meters). The TASER X26 transmits electrical pulses along the wires and into the body affecting the sensory and motor functions of the peripheral nervous system. The energy can penetrate up to two cumulative inches of clothing, or one inch per probe.

Remote Area Denial  (TRAD) 

The TRAD is a ruggedized, stand-alone device that integrates the TASER NMI engine with the TASER CAM Infrared Imaging system to create a network ready security device that can observe, warn, incapacitate and retain intruders in a TASERNET secured area. The TRAD can fire multiple TASER cartridges, each independently controlled to deliver the patented TASER X26 waveform
